Morey made the moves necessary to make the best offer for Howard. However, you can never remove the risk of a GM doing something stupid, which is what Hennigan did in approving the Howard trade. Morey offered a far better deal than what Hennigan got. Can't blame him for that. Good explanation here:
http://www.red94.net/happen...

Re: http://mrshl.net/post/28426357753

Agreed. If you don't have to think about roads that much, that's a government success. Lots of other countries can't take their infrastructure for granted.

While I'm guessing most of your clients are private, I'd be surprised if you didn't contract with a few important government clients.

Re: http://mrshl.net/post/27675569696

Now that I read this, it sounds more like I'm criticizing conceal carry laws. I'm not, I was just trying to point out that states were going in the wrong direction with respect to their gun laws: i.e., making guns more pervasive instead of less so.

I do know that the content of Conceal Carry courses is very much geared to safety and sensibility (I have read articles! I can read!). Also, I've not seen data on the subject, but I'm inclined to agree that concealed carry permit owners are unlikely to be mass shooters.
Also, if we view conceal carry permits and required safety courses as positives, it is actually an argument in favor of gun regulation, not against it (why wouldn't such permitting work for other guns?).

Finally, mass shootings are no longer super rare events. They happen quite frequently (we average 20 a year). One of the Aurora victims had been at the site of another such shooting just a month earlier. And while we can't prevent them, we can probably make them less lethal by making it harder to obtain automatic rifles that can shoot hundreds of rounds in short succession. I agree with many of the points in this post: http://swampland.time.com/2...

Re: http://mrshl.net/post/27959303405

My point here, is that the idea that guns don't kill people is false. And, as you point out, "lots of guns" is much more dangerous than "fewer guns."

I agree it's too late to sharply limit the presence of guns in our country. I also agree with folks who buy guns to protect themselves in their own homes. I'm also fine generally with a concealed carry permitting regime.

I just think the NRA's zero tolerance for any sort of gun regulation is idiotic and has very real repercussions. And that the slogans and rhetoric they've promoted over the years, especially the "people kill people" mantra has been either false or exaggerated.
To me, it's kind of puzzling that so many people want the gun discussion to be binary: that is either we have total gun freedom or no guns at all. Those are both extreme positions. And it's unlikely either would be the optimal level of regulation.

Re: http://mrshl.net/post/27675569696

While truly terrible, these "mass shootings" are the work of an infitissimal fraction of a percent of the population. We need not legislate based on the unfortunate actions of the very rare and very random individual psycho. Fact is, even with your purported easing of regulations, the overwhelming vast majority of gun owners and concealed carry holders especially never fire a single shot at another human being. Even in "threatening" situations the overwhelming majority never draws their weapon.
I'm guessing you're pretty clueless as to what's actually taught in a concealed carry course. The dominant message is "you do not want to ever use your gun". You're taught it's far better in practically every situation to not shoot someone. You don't hear about concealed carry people randomly shooting some shady character who approaches them asking for spare change at

Re: http://mrshl.net/post/27865872299

I can assure you I/my company has not benefitted.
